What better way to send off 2024, than to trudge through a muddy, foggy Surrey bagging three hills in under 12 hours with my sister.

It was a challenging one, clocking in a 36km and taking just over 9 hours to complete; I believe we paced ourselves well though.

It wasn’t exactly a sunny stroll through the park, with zero visibility thanks to persistent fog; it was cold, muddy and slippery underfoot.

Despite the conditions, the walk was absolutely brilliant; the area is lovely, the hills gentle and the forest paths especially atmospheric with their spooky trees.

Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

- Benjamin Franklin

We almost didn’t set off in the morning due to a small crisis of faith1 but as always, I’m glad to have made the effort; the hardest part is starting.

  1. I’m sure I over-sold the size of the hills. ↩︎
