In 2023, I set off on The Cambrian Way with Conor - with whom I met on the [[Thru-Hikes/The Pennine Way (2022)|The Pennine Way (2022)]] - and his friend Mike; we set out to walk the northern part of The Cambrian Way (Snowdonia), but unfortunately, we didn't quite make it to the end. The Cambrian Way was a perfect opportunity to explore some of North Wales' most beautiful landscapes and was a journey that could be completed within a timescale that suited all of us. | ![[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/PHOTO-2023-05-19-18-55-28.jpg]] | ![[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/PHOTO-2023-05-19-18-55-32.jpg]] | ![[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/PHOTO-2023-05-19-18-55-30.jpg]] | | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | ## The Journey The journey began with a mix of excitement and nerves as we knew it wouldn't be an easy walk, but we were determined to make the most of it. We climbed a number of hills in the Carneddau range, the Glyders and tackled Crib Goch as a minor diversion. The journey wasn't all rosey though, we endured a crazy first night at Llyn Bohlwyd where we encountered boggy ground, howling wind and a broken guy line, I was the luckiest of the three having been given the most sheltered spot. Our progress was halted on the slopes of Cnicht by a knee injury sustained by one of our party. We had to make the difficult decision to finish the walk early which was a bittersweet moment as we were disappointed not to have reached the end of the route, but were relieved to amicably end the walk as a team. ## Reflections Despite the setback, we made the most of our time in Snowdonia. We marvelled at the peaks, hiked through picturesque villages like Beddgelert, and enjoyed some well-deserved rest stops along the way. The camaraderie among us remained strong, and we found ourselves laughing and joking along the way (especially in the Sygun Copper Mine). The Cambrian Way may not have been a success in terms of completing the entire route, but it was undoubtedly an excellent journey. I'll always remember the memories of the adventure, and I hope to plan our next walk together in the future. | ![[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/PHOTO-2023-05-19-18-55-32 2.jpg]] | ![[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/PHOTO-2023-05-19-18-55-31.jpg]] | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | ## Itinerary ```mermaid timeline Title Timeline Day 1 : Conwy : Llyn Bochlwyd Day 2 : Llyn Bochlwyd : Pen-y-Pass Day 3 : Pen-y-Pass : Beddgelert Day 4 : Beddgelert : Cnict : Early Exit ``` <!-- - [[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/Day 1 (Conwy to Llyn Bochlwyd)|Day 1 (Conwy to Llyn Bochlwyd)]] - [[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/Day 2 (Llyn Bochlwyd to Pen-y-Pass)|Day 2 (Llyn Bochlwyd to Pen-y-Pass)]] - [[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/Day 3 (Pen-y-Pass to Beddgelert)|Day 3 (Pen-y-Pass to Beddgelert)]] - [[Thru-Hikes/The Cambrian Way (2023)/Day 4 (Beddgelert to Early Exit)|Day 4 (Beddgelert to Early Exit)]] --> # References - [https://www.cambrianway.org.uk](https://www.cambrianway.org.uk) - [Hiking the Length of Snowdonia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTpspmx-bkQ)
